Week 10: Email Marketing (part 1)

The Glazed Gazette ~ EXTRA! EXTRA!

When it comes to newsletters I would lean towards sending them out less frequently, just not so infrequently that the business gets forgotten about!  For this business, I think that would be twice a year for a general "news" letter plus additional emails announcing events where the customers could come out and see the pieces.  I think the two scheduled newsletters could be an anniversary update and a mid-year update. Additionally, I could see sending out a Happy Birthday announcement with a 25% off coupon.

For content, I think the customers would enjoy hearing about
 - latest projects and collections
 - craft fairs or shows they will be at
 - major ceramic art events
 - local ceramic art events
 - artist spotlights

  1. Hi Jill,
I think twice a year would be ok, as long as you sent out some reminders about the craft shows that you would be attending or maybe highlighting what you liked about some of the fairs that you attended. Maybe you saw something special at one of the fairs that caught your eye and you wanted to share it with your readers, or a new trend you see at the fairs you're attending. like you say, you don't want them to forget about you.

  2. Hi Jill,
I agree with you about the frequency of newsletters. The more frequently i get emails from a company, the less i read them. I also think coupons are always a great idea and you are right about not wanting to be forgotten.

  3. The "Happy Birthday" coupon idea is a great way to show people you care and consequently get some new clients. I totally agree with Travis that the more I get emails from a company, the less I open it. However to send a newsletter just twice a year seems not enough to make your company memorable. I will advise to send it at least 4 times a year but that is just my opinion (:
